http://money.cnn.com/2007/11/19/smbusiness/electric_cars.fsb/index.htm Next year they start to go on sale beginning with the Tesla. People in Palo Alto will probably see them in their neighborhoods shortly. Ten years later they're gonna be everywhere. In a future where people don't drive to work every day occasional use of an electricx car is fairly feasable using off-grid power: wind, solar, microhydro charging battiers could store power that can be easily transferred to the car. For short trips it's ideal and in all likelyhood you'd never need grod power and would be driving without paying for fuel. For longer trips you might need to recharge. Toshiba today announced a "super" lithium ion battery that takes 90% charge in 5 minutes. It's the first lithium ion battery designed specifically with an eye toward the burgoning electric car market. http://www.dailytech.com/Toshiba+to+Launch+SCiB+Batteries+in+March/article9984c.htm Keeo in mind the new battery that uses 350 degree mix of salt, ceramic and nickel in the new solartaxi. http://www.solartaxi.com/technology/zebra-battery/ 2007 was a good year for electric cars. |
