Oil Glaze Recipe

Oil Glaze Recipe

Can be used to stain bare unpainted wood inside or out. Or can be used over milk based paints to make them washable. Made without pigment it will darken the color of milk paints. Washable after several weeks drying.

  • 1/2 cup (100ml) boiled linseed oil
  • 1/3 cup (50ml) solvent - turpentine or citrus thinners
  • 1 tablespoon whiting
  • 1/2 teaspoon natural pigment
This makes enough to cover about 27 sq ft or 2.5 sq m.

Put some of the solvent in a bowl, add the pigment and whiting. Mix well. Mix the rest of the solvent with the oil in another bowl, then add the pigment mixture. Will take several hours to try. Clean brushes with water then warm soapy water.
